After being picked up at the airport or hotel or riad, you will visit the medina of Fez with a local guide and from there you will go to the city. Fez is one of the oldest imperial cities in Moroccan history, founded in the 8th century AD. The medina dates from the 13th century and its streets are lined with artisans. After the visit, we will return for one night in your hotel or riad.
After breakfast, head southeast to visit the central Atlas, via Ifrane, Morocco, Switzerland, then Azrou, we will stop at the famous largest cedar forest in Morocco, observe and play with Barbary apes. From here we continue south, passing through a few towns where you will have the opportunity to see nomads living in tents where you will arrive in Midert for lunch. We will continue through the vast open desert and as you approach the town of Er Rachidia or imtghren you will see the landscape change to reveal the signs of the desert. Your journey continues along the lush Ziz Valley and the Tafilalet palm grove, famous for its date palm cultivation. The region was the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty – the current ruling royal family in Morocco. You will arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon – you will be greeted with a cup of mint tea before checking into your riad.
After breakfast, we went to visit the dunes. We will visit the oasis of Merzouga, the nomads of Haimas, the village of Khamlia (black city), the mine of Mifiss, the desert plateau and the oasis of the mine of Tissard. About 3 hours later, we returned to our residence. Later we will ride a camel over the sand dunes to watch the sunset. We then spend the night in a wild oasis in the heart of the dunes, a two-hour drive from our location. We slept at the “Bivouacs”…a magical night!
We will leave the dunes and head towards Erfoud to Tineghir where we will visit the “fougartas”, an old sewer system from the 15th century. We will also visit Tinhgir palm grove. Then we will reach the Todra Gorge, where we will rest and eat. Then we walk through the city and the valley of Boulmane Dadès to the canyon of Dadès. There, the river flows over the rocks, creating a beautiful landscape. Dinner and night in a charming 5-star hotel.
We will start the morning driving along the road to the valley of roses and the beautiful Berber village of Boutghrart where we will have tea with the local family (whiskey Berber). We take the Route des Mille Anciens Châteaux. Along this route, we will stop to observe ancient castles, landscapes, valleys, nomads living in caves… We will reach Skoura and then arrive where many films have been shot (Obelisk, Gladiator, Castle of the Sahara Ait Benhaddou in the desert.. .). Dinner at the hotel.
We head towards the magnificent old castle of Ait Benhaddou. We will visit another Kasbah called Telouet. At the end of the afternoon we will return to Marrakech crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2260m above sea level) and its magnificent landscapes. We will spend the night in a Riad in Marrakech.
We will have a walking tour of Marrakech and its most important historical monuments, including the old medina, tombs and mosques, the Kasbah or the famous Jemaa El Fna square. We will find out why Morocco is known as the capital of tourism. We will spend the night in the same Riad.
We left in the morning, from Marrakech to Essaouira, about 2h30 by car. There we will enter the Museum of Wood Crafts located in an old palace. There is a watchtower and the port of La Scala. From this port we can see the coast, islands and towns. The wharf gate serves to connect the town to the port, and there are auctions to buy fresh fish. In the narrow streets of the medina are many craftsmen working in jewelry and wood… They are housed under the citadel of the city. We will return to Marrakech and spend the night in the same riad as the previous two nights.
After breakfast in the morning, departure from Marrakech to Casablanca. We visited the Hassan II Mosque, the second largest mosque in the world, the medina and the new part of the city, and we also visited the traditional Hubbous market if you want to buy gifts before spending the night at the hotel .
After breakfast, we head to Rabat to visit the Hassan Tower and the Vadaya Castle. After visiting Rabat, we will head to the city of Meknes, which reached the golden age of Sultan Moulay Ismail. And visit the Berber Roman city 27 km from Meknes, known in Berber as Volubilis or Walili. We will walk through the Berber-Roman city. After the visit, we will arrive in Meknes. There we will walk around the city, we will go to the tomb of Moulay Ismail, El Hedime Square and Bab Mansour. We will spend the night in a hotel or a riad.
We will take you back to Fez, return to your accommodation or transfer to the airport for your flight.
